The Day My Presentation Was Almost Sold on the Dark Web

That morning, David rushed into P-Coffee with a worried expression. After ordering two waffles and a cup of black coffee, he quickly sat down in the corner, wiping the cold sweat off his forehead. "Rough morning, bro?" Ben asked as he arranged cups behind the counter.

David took a deep breath before saying, "Ben, I'm in serious trouble! The presentation material I finished last night suddenly disappeared from my laptop."

Curious, Ben asked, "Disappeared? Are you sure you didn’t accidentally delete it?"

David shook his head. "No, bro. I'm absolutely sure it was all done last night. I remember because I fell asleep in front of the laptop. But this morning, the file was gone. I’m afraid a hacker got me."

Ben tried to stifle a laugh, "Maybe Birdy’s messing with you. Look at him, just chilling there," Ben said, pointing to his pet parrot, who was happily chirping in its cage.

Suddenly, Birdy squawked, "Gone, gone!" as if understanding their conversation.

David eyed Birdy suspiciously, "This bird might have some hidden talents, Ben. A parrot with a hacker's beak, maybe?"

Ben burst out laughing, but before he could reply, a man who had been waiting for his order at a nearby table stood up and approached them. "Sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear. I happen to be a cybersecurity expert. Maybe I can help?"

David felt a glimmer of hope. "Please, I’d really appreciate it! My laptop seems to have been hit by a virus or hacked."

The man, who introduced himself as Jeff, asked David to show him the laptop. He began examining the device seriously, pressing several keys and plugging a special device into the USB port. As he worked, he occasionally nodded, as if finding something important.

After a few minutes, Jeff let out a sigh of relief, "I found something. It turns out your laptop was indeed hit by a sophisticated malware attack. This virus automatically hid your file and nearly uploaded it to a server on the dark web to be sold."

David’s eyes widened, "Sold? On the dark web? This is serious!"

Jeff nodded, "Yes, fortunately, you noticed it quickly, and I was able to trace the file's path. I managed to stop the upload and recover your presentation file. It’s back in its original folder now."

David felt an overwhelming sense of relief. "Thank you so much, Jeff. I don’t know how to thank you."

Jeff smiled, "No problem. I like stopping by P-Coffee anyway. I’m glad I could help."

Ben, who had been watching with keen interest, added, "Wow, P-Coffee really is a gathering place for amazing people. Today, someone got saved from a digital disaster thanks to Jeff."

Not wanting to be left out, Birdy squawked, "Saved, saved!" flapping its wings as if joining the celebration.

David laughed in relief, finally able to enjoy his waffles, now nearly cold. "Looks like I owe Birdy some waffles. And of course, breakfast is on me for Jeff anytime he stops by."

Jeff chuckled, "I’ll remember that. Thanks for the offer."

As David finally relaxed, Ben and Birdy smiled, watching him settle back into his usual self. P-Coffee returned to its usual lively atmosphere, filled with laughter and stories, with one new tale of a rescued file from the dark web adding spice to the day.
