AI Fears and Coffee Cheers: A Day in Ben's Café

Ben had been running his coffee shop for over two hours. That morning, from the barista counter where he worked, his ears only caught one thing: fear of layoffs due to the rise of artificial intelligence in the workplace. Quite a few of his coffee shop customers spent their time discussing it.

Last night, Ben and his parrot, Birdy, also overheard several stock traders who worked on Wall Street talking about it in his coffee shop. At that time, a broker, Edward, shared a Financial Times news link with his two colleagues, Mario and Nicole.

Edward: (Handing his phone to Mario and Nicole) "Check this out, news from the Financial Times. Apple and some other big tech companies are making massive investments in artificial intelligence."

Mario: (Stirring his latte) "This is crazy. I just bought a vacuum cleaner that talks. Now, even a vacuum is smarter than me. What's next? A toaster that gives financial advice?"

Nicole: (Laughing) "Don't tell me, that toaster has a CPA certification."

Birdy: (From the corner of the room) "Krrr… Toaster is smarter than Edward, krrr!"

Ben: (Laughing while pouring coffee) "Careful, Birdy. Edward might take offense."

Edward: (Shaking his head) "No, no, I'd rather be a fearful human than a half-dead cyborg. Besides, I doubt technology can replace my natural charm."

Nicole: "Charm or not, we all need to find ways to stay relevant. Maybe we should start learning to code or, at least, figure out how to fix talking vacuum cleaners."

Mario: (Laughing again) "Or maybe we should all work at Ben's coffee shop. Here, the most advanced AI is Birdy."

Birdy: "Krrr… Birdy is not afraid of AI, krrr!"

Ben: (Shaking his head with a smile) "I think my coffee shop is crowded enough without adding unemployed Wall Street brokers."

Everyone laughed, and for a moment, their fears about artificial intelligence disappeared, replaced by light-hearted humor and warm friendship. Despite the uncertainty of the future, they knew that Ben's coffee shop would always be a cozy place to share stories, fears, and laughter.
